Residents spoke of their shock today after a woman was sexually assaulted in Headington in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Between 1.40am and 2.10am the 19-year old victim was walking along Cuckoo Lane – an alleyway connecting Pullens Lane and Marston Road.

She was walking in the direction of Marston Road when she was approached by two men who sexually assaulted her.

One student who lives nearby and didn't want to be named said: "It was a bit shocking.

"I walk around here all the time and it is a bit scary at night."

Police are yet to make any arrests and have released a description of the offenders.

The first man is described as white, aged in his late teens to early twenties, about 6ft 2ins with a broad muscular build.

He had brown medium length scruffy hair, no glasses and was clean shaven. He was wearing a short sleeved top, black jeans a gold signet ring on his left hand.

The second man is white, aged in his late teens to early twenties, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins with a broad or fat build, blonde short hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing black jeans.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Investigating officer PC Laura Oakes of Oxford Force CID said: “We are carrying out a full and thorough investigation into this incident, which we believe to be isolated.

“Although incidents such as this are rare in this area, I would like to advise people against walking alone at night, and to try to stick to routes which are well lit.

“I would like to speak to anyone who has any information which they think could relate to this incident, or which could help our investigating.”
