Burglars armed with machetes raid man's home in West Oxfordshire

  • Two raiders armed with a machete kicked a man's front door in and stole his shotguns. The victim was alone at the house in Station Road, Bampton, at 10.20pm on Sunday when he said a man knocked on his door. He later told police he was on the phone, saw the man through the window, and did not answer. About ten minutes later he said his front door was kicked in and the man, this time armed with a machete, 'demanded items'.

The intruder, who was white, wearing a scarf around his face and bright yellow running shoes was joined by a black man who was 6ft tall and had dreadlocks.

Police said the two raiders left with three stolen shotguns and gun cartridges and drove off in a small, dark-coloured hatchback car. The victim was not hurt.

Power tools stolen during business raid

  • Power tools were stolen after burglars prised open the shutters of a business in Oxford . Police are appealing witnesses following the break-in at the property in Pony Road, Cowley sometime during Tuesday night. Power tools were taken from a wall display.

Charity shop ransacked and laptop stolen in Banbury Road

  • A laptop was stolen from a charity shop during a burglary in Oxford. Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses after the business in Banbury Road was raided during the night on Thursday. Burglars used an angle grinder to get in to the store through the back door.

Police release CCTV of five people they want to speak to following newsagents burglary

  • The force said five people entered the shop in Chipping Norton at 10.30am on Monday, January 30. While some of them distracted the shopkeeper, one of the group snuck upstairs to the home above the shop and stole a safe containing a passport and cash. All members of the group then left the shop at the same time.
