NATURE volunteers will be taking a slash-and-burn approach at Raleigh Park in Botley today.

The Wild Oxford team will be carrying on recent scrub clearance work and building a bonfire to burn the brash.

Anyone interested in conservation is welcome to join, and team leader Andy Gunn, from the Berks Buck and Oxon Wildlife Trust, has promised to bring soup, bread, cakes and hot drinks.

He will also bring all equipment needed for the day so volunteers just need to wrap up warm and bring sturdy gloves.

In his regular email to volunteers Mr Gunn said: "This is also our opportunity to say 'thank you' for all of the hard work you have done on the Wild Oxford sites in the last year and an opportunity for us to make you some lunch.

"If you would just like to come down and enjoy the bonfire and see what’s been going on, please join us, there is no obligation to do any work."

The session is planned to run from 10am to 3pm.

Anyone driving is advised to park on Raleigh Park Road and walk down on the public footpath at the top of the hill.
