MENTAL health campaigners staged a one day festival to support people who may find this time of year difficult.

Members of the Beehive and Garden Cafe recovery groups, run by Restore, organised a one day Winter Wonderland to raise funds and spread Christmas cheer.

Neighbours, supporters, volunteers and recovery group members came together on Friday to hold the event with children’s activities, decorations and gifts handmade by members.

The charity said the event was organised because due to the challenges faced at this time of year by those living with mental ill health who find it harder to cope.

Against a snowy backdrop made by the Beehive recovery group, the Winter Wonderland also sold food handmade by Garden Café members.

It took place on Friday in Manzil Way Gardens, St Clement’s.

Restore works to help people with mental ill health to get back into work.

Last year it coached 578 people with 121 moving onto paid or voluntary work.

Tom Hayes, Head of External Relations at Restore, said the winter wonderland would help raise much-needed funds for the charity and get people talking about mental health to help break the stigma surrounding it.
