City lane 'fourth most picturesque in UK'

New College Lane in Oxford has been named the fourth most picturesque street in the UK in a poll.

More than 11,000 people voted in the Google Street View awards.

New College Lane finished behind the Shambles in York, the Royal Crescent in Bath and Grey Street in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in voting.

The charm of New College Lane is that it hasn't been changed much by the planners (except for the addition of ugly double yellow lines, of course). 20 years ago Parks Road would have been a better contender for the best suburban street, with its trees, wide grass verges and flower beds, interesting historic buildings and its relative tranquility. One inept traffic scheme later it is disfigured by signs, lights and road graffiti with weedy, muddy, rutted, and litter -strewn verges, clogged and polluted by bumper-to-bumper traffic in both directions and scourged by cyclists forced onto the pavements.

I.m surprised anywhere in Oxford made it on to the list.
Oxford streets are dirty and are unpleasant to walk along. One is either continually shoved/pushed/bashed or having to dodge the many many cyclists that believe themselves to be immune from any restrcitions.
