THESE two men are being sought by police after more than £8,000 worth of jewellery was stolen from an Oxford art gallery.

Posing as big-spending customers and flashing a large amount of money, two men targeted Verandah Gallery in North Parade, off Banbury Road on December 9.

The men asked to see expensive items of jewellery and had them wrapped by a shop assistant, while they selected and concealed several other items and then left the store without paying.

Police have released CCTV of these two men from a nearby shop and Pc Steven Mather said: “I would urge the men shown on CCTV images to come forward and speak to the police as soon as possible.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who can help identify these men.

“I am keen to speak to them as I believe they have information that is useful in our inquiries.”

Anyone with information can call Pc Mather on 101.
