Call to reject waste changes

A WASTE firm which admitted breaking planning rules over delivery hours must not be allowed to operate for longer, a council report says.

The owners of Ferris Hill Farm, in Sibford Ferris, near Banbury, previously admitted taking double the amount of construction waste allowed, and taking deliveries before the permitted 8am start time.

Banbury Plant Hire has now applied to Oxfordshire County Council to take up to 44,000 tonnes a year at the site, instead of 24,999 tonnes now and extend operating hours at the site.

But Cherwell District Council planning officers say the area needs “robust protection” and would suffer an “unacceptable impact”.

The council’s planning committee will be asked on Thursday to recommend refusal of the application by the county council.
