CHILDREN have been learning that history and fun can go hand-in-hand.

The Ashmolean Museum is running ‘pick and mix’ sessions on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons until August 16.

McKenzie Morton, nine, a pupil at West Kidlington Primary School, decorated a globe with spices to find out where they come from.

He said: “It was really good fun. I like the fact that the museum has lots of things that you need to know about.”

Meanwhile six-year-old Eleanor Arneil, from Rose Hill, made a gold medallion. Dad Jason said: “I was really surprised at how good it was.

“The children made Roman helmets which were very intricate. I was just sad they didn’t make one in my size."
