Rim Hayatleh, 33, of The Phelps, Kidlington, admitted assault by beating on June 4. Given 12-month conditional discharge.
Nikita Higson, 22, of Iffley Road, Oxford, admitted shoplifting beauty products, baby food and baby items worth £39.65 from Boots in Cornmarket Street, Oxford, on June 29. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £5.60 compensation.
Simon Boswell, 47, of Iffley Road, Oxford, convicted of shoplifting goods worth £43.86 from Sainsbury’s and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in Kidlington on June 15. Fined £75, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £50 costs.
James Carthy, 22, of Wooldridge Court, Oxford, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance on August 8. Given 120 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £85 costs. Banned from driving for six months.

Actually she made £35 on her shopping, sorry, shoplifting expedition, after paying the ludicrous compensation order which must cost fifty times its value to order and enforce.
If I were a copper (or a shopkeeper) I would be tearing my hair out. What on earth is the point of bringing someone to justice when the courts effectively look the other way? Why not just post a notice saying "help yourself - as long as its stuff that you 'need'"
The Oxford magistrates are a morally bankrupt lot. They have forgotten why we have laws. All a great big joke to them.
