Since launching in January the Jubilee Fund for Oxfordshire has been bombarded with calls and offers of help at its central Oxford HQ – so many in fact that the outdated phone system was swamped.

Now, with the help of STL Communications from Witney, there are more phone lines up and running and waiting for your call!

The Jubilee Fund for Oxfordshire launched in January and aims to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year by raising millions of pounds to help struggling community groups throughout the county.

Businesses, groups and individuals are being encouraged to get involved and donate or raise cash in any way they can.

And they are already rising to the occasion, contacting the fund’s offices at Woodins Way, Oxford, in their droves.

Jayne Woodley is chief executive of the Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF), which is steering the Fund.

She explained: “Since our Jubilee launch in January the phones haven’t stopped ringing, and we realised that our current phone system simply couldn’t cope.

“Faced with the challenge of sourcing a new system we were delighted and extremely grateful when STL offered to ‘gift’ a telephone system to enable us to satisfy the increased call demand.

“This is a huge bonus for us, and represents a real investment in the community by STL.”

Now owners of a new state-of-the-art Samsung 7030 OfficeServe telephone system with eight phone extensions, OCF is welcoming even more callers.

Phil Donigan, STL’s sales manager, said: “STL supports charities whenever possible and by providing The Oxfordshire Community Foundation with a new telephone system we hope we will enable them to raise even more money from local businesses for their Jubilee Fund.”

Recognising the Queen’s own unstinting service to charity and good causes, the Jubilee Fund for Oxfordshire will offer a financial lifeline to community projects and small charities, some of which have been particularly hard hit by public service cuts and the recession.
