SOCIAL work students at Oxford Brookes University will attend an annual placement matching fair today.
Now in its fourth year, the event was introduced in response to student feedback asking for more say in choosing placements. Organisers say more than 20 organisations will attend.
The format is similar to a job fair, with students listing their three favoured placements at the end of proceedings.
Adrian Childs, Team Manager at Oxford-based charity Elmore Community Services said: “The fairs are a great way to talk to students about what we do, and what we can offer on placement. It gives the students an opportunity to get a better understanding of individual placements first hand from practitioners, and for them to express interest before attending for interview; it also allows organisations to promote themselves to new practitioners and raise awareness of the work being done.”
