MORE money is being made available for charities and community groups working in Oxford.

Oxford City Council has made a further £10,000 available for groups that promote equality, community cohesion, healthy living, or work to tackle poverty and deprivation.

Until September, 7 the upper limit groups can apply for will also increase from £1,000 to £5,000.

After this time applications for £1,000 or less will still be accepted.

All grants are available via The Good Exchange website which also matches applicants with other eligible grant givers on the platform, cutting the time taken to apply for grants and reducing the need for multiple applications.

Councillor Christine Simm, executive board member for supporting local communities, said: “I am pleased that we are not only able to continue to support local charities and community groups through our Small Grants Scheme, but that we are also utilising an innovative online platform to provide that support.”

A total of £20,000 has now been made available in the current round of the council’s Small Grants Scheme.

Charities and community groups are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
