We find it hard to see any merit in Tesco’s plan for an Express store on the Fox and Hounds pub site in Abingdon Road.

There are plenty of local shops in this area already and most of the surrounding property is residential in character.

A Tesco Express could damage the local shops, would look out of place and would be very close to a busy traffic junction.

Surely this is a prime site for the sort of new homes that Oxford is desperately in need of.
