Many people we expect will be somewhat surprised at the threat of possible industrial action at the Mini plant at Cowley over a pay dispute.
However you calculate the proposed rise, claimed to be six per cent by management and 2.3 per cent according to the union, it is still an increase.
At a time when many people in the private sector and increasingly in the public sector are suffering pay freezes, any rise in take home pay would be welcome.
