Sir – One of the major problems of Oxford is that the rivers and streams create a series of disconnected islands.
With this in mind it would make sense to have a footbridge opposite the Dudman Way students’ flats across the River Thames to Tumbling Bay.
This would provide access from Jericho to the Waitrose development in Botley Road. In view of the benefit to Waitrose, I would suggest that Waitrose should pay the cost of the bridge.
Another suggestion would be a footbridge across the Cherwell linking Christ Church Meadow with East Oxford. This would enable access for East Oxford residents to access the town centre free from the traffic-congested roads.
