Sir – I have been busking in Oxford for the past 30 years and I have never seen any of those demonstrators before, apart from Mr Walker who has just appeared recently.
I think they should also mention the true reason why they want to busk in Oxford, it is the same reason that John Lewis want to put a big shop here; lots of rich people go shopping here. It is a lovely romantic idea, turning up where you like, when you like, playing what you like as long as you like but the rules in Oxford are about considering the other people involved; the shop assistant who has to listen to you whether he/she likes it or not, people trying to crunch numbers in upstairs offices, etc. Other towns may not have such rules; go and busk there.
Oxford is a small place but a good place to busk. It also has a growing reputation as a city with great street music. If you want some of that, then you have got to share.
