Every Christmas, a giant Lights of Love Tree is erected at the Churchill Hospital, covered in lights in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us. On Saturday, December 10, at 3.30pm, Sobell House Hospice Charity will be holding a memorial service and lighting the tree. Every light on the tree will bear a personal message dedicated to a loved one. Anyone taking part will also have the opportunity to make an entry in the Books of Remembrance. Sobell House Hospice Charity supports the Sir Michael Sobell House Hospice which provides care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, and support for the thousands of Oxfordshire families affected. The hospice offers physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement. The focus is on quality of life, respecting the uniqueness of each person, and respect for the dignity of all users of the service.

A short service will be held near to the tree and guests will have an opportunity to view the Books of Remembrance, and everyone is welcome to join the service and take part by dedicating a light.

The Lights of Love is open to everyone, not just to remember people who have died at Sobell House. If you are not able to attend the service, you can still dedicate a light, and your message will be on the tree all over the Christmas period. This is a wonderful opportunity to remember relatives and friends over the Christmas period, and to make sure that those who are no longer with us can still be part of our Christmas celebrations.

All donations received from this event will go directly to support Sobell House Hospice, and help to continue the work in Oxfordshire.

If you would like to dedicate a light, or find out more information about the service, please email mail@sobellhospice.org or telephone the Sobell House Hospice Charity office on 01865 857007.
