THE Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) Oxfordshire branch is organising a meeting next week in Abingdon entitled Save the Vale Green Belt.

The group will lead a discussion about what Vale of White Horse District Council’s Local Plan for development means to green fields in the area.

The draft Local Plan proposes 1,510 houses in the Green Belt at North Abingdon, South Kennington and Radley.

Speakers will include Lib Dem Abingdon councillor Margaret Crick, Ian Scargill of Oxford Green Belt Network, and the CPRE’s Helena Marshall.

The meeting will be at Long Furlong Community Centre on Tuesday, from 7.30pm until 9pm.
