A WOMAN on trial for the murder of her boyfriend phoned police threatening to stab an ex-lover who she had accused of assaulting her.

Natasha Elderfield, 41, made the 999 call days before her 33-year-old partner Robert Dobinson died from a single knife wound to the heart.

The prosecution alleges she attacked her boyfriend in a drunken rage on her boat in Abingdon on the afternoon of Sunday, October 19.

Oxford Crown Court was also given details of a string of complaints made to police by the couple against each other over a 14-month period up to two days before Dobinson was stabbed.

Detective Constable Christopher Pullen told the jury yesterday how Elderfield had reported to police that she had been assaulted by short-term ex-boyfriend Toby Elmore on September 9, 2014.

She made a 999 call on October 8 after she heard Elmore had been released by police without charge.

The jury heard a recording of the 10-minute call in which Elderfield complained about Mr Elmore being released after he had allegedly stamped on her head and her back.

She said: “I’m terrified of going to court but I’m not letting that b*****d get away with it.”

Elderfield continued: “He stabbed someone years ago and I swear on my life I’m not going to be the next one.

“If you let him go I will come and stab him.

“I swear on my life, you want to get him because if you don’t I f***ing will. I swear on my life I will go and find him myself and I will cut him.”

The court heard the police had decided not to charge Mr Elmore because of a lack of independent evidence.

Andrew Hall QC, defending, said Elderfield had gone to the police station after the call and was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

Earlier, prosecutor Charles Ward-Jackson listed 13 occasions when Elderfield and/or Mr Dobinson had called police to make allegations against each other between August 2013 and October 17, 2014.

The complaints from both of them included allegations of assault and theft with the last one coming from Mr Dobinson two days before he was stabbed, when he said Elderfield had punched him in the face.

The court also heard Mr Dobinson had made 82 phone calls to Elderfield on the afternoon of his death and she had made four to his phone.

Earlier in the trial the jury had heard how Elderfield had been entertaining her lover Tony Steggles on her boat when Mr Dobinson walked in on them.

The prosecution says an argument between the two of them resulted in Mr Dobinson being stabbed to death with a kitchen knife. Elderfield denies murder.

The trial continues.
