ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD David Robertson was given the task of cutting the tape at the opening of John Mason School’s new learning support centre.
The new centre at the secondary school in Wootton Road, Abingdon, has cost £35,000, with funding from the school budget.
Following the opening on Thursday, headteacher Sarah Brinkley said the support centre would help pupils who were experiencing learning difficulties.
She added: “A huge range of different pupil needs will be met.

Children will get specialist help which could include small group work, or one-to-one tuition to help overcome barriers to learning.
“These pupils have the same skills and talents as any other child and by removing these barriers they can achieve anything they set their minds to.”
Mrs Brinkley has been headteacher at the school since September 1.
