TEENAGERS have been 3D printing and laser-engraving at their futuristic new 3D Design Centre.
St Helen and St Katharine School in Abingdon said the new £500,000 centre which opened this term, was “designed for the future”.
The centre provides a home for the increasingly popular subjects of ceramics and design and technology, which now include jewellery making, 3D printing and laser engraving.
Ceramics teacher Ben Drew said: “The new 3D Design Centre is a fantastic space allowing pupils to learn new techniques and be more creative.
“They are really enjoying their new learning environment.”
The school’s head of art Jane McDonald helped design the new timber-framed building, which has taken six months to build, along with Banks Design Architects.
In a statement, the independent school said: “The new building promotes design technology as part of our STEM curriculum and demonstrates the school’s commitment to technology and engineering for women.”
