A man was taken to hospital after a trike ploughed into a headge in Abingdon.

The air ambulance was called to Preston Road after the crash, which happened at 12.45pm today.

Paramedics treated one man at the scene for suspected chest injuries, but emergency servies did not say if he had been riding the quad bike or was a pedestrian.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Michelle Archer said staff were alerted to the crash at 12.45pm.

She added: "We sent one rapid response vehicle and an ambulance and the air ambulance also attended.

"One man was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

"He suffered possible chest injuries."

A stretch of Preston Road, between Midget Close and Cotman Road, was closed for several hours as emergency services dealt with the crash.

A recovery lorry arrived at about 4pm to take away the trike, which police officers were seen pulling from the hedge, and the road reopened at about 4.15pm.
