VILLAGERS will march to council offices to demand their voice is heard against plans for hundreds of homes.

Dozens of Sutton Courtenay residents will gather at their village hall to hear impassioned speeches on Friday, from where they will walk a mile to Milton Park and present Vale of White Horse District Council with a petition.

It calls for the council to consider the cumulative impact of a series of approved and proposed applications, including 200 homes off of Hobbyhorse Lane, 354 off Harwell Road, 93 north of Appleford Road, 195 south of Appleford Road and an industrial warehouse near Sutton Courtenay Lane with more than 830 car and lorry parking spaces.

Sutton Courtenay Action campaign group member Anne Morgan-Smith said: “Residents have just had enough.

“We are a special case in that we are going to experience more than double the growth of the village if the current plans go ahead.

“The infrastructure can’t cope - when it rains we all panic about sewage. This is all hanging over our heads and no-one is listening. It has the potential to damage the village.”

Mrs Morgan-Smith said villagers have even paid for experts to research concerns about infrastructure and environmental risks, including that the warehouse site could contain high amounts of methane.

Residents will be joined at the march, starting at 1.30pm, by Sutton Courtenay and Marcham county councillor Richard Webber and Wantage MP Ed Vaizey.
