CLASSIC fairytale Beauty and the Beast is coming to Deddington.

Deddington Primary School pupils are on stage at St Peter and St Paul Church, Church Road, Deddington, tonight.

Joe Sydenham, 11, plays the Beast. He said: “It’s amazing. It’s a really hard part to play though, because you’ve got to be really nasty at the start, then really nice at the end.

“This show is better than the one we did last year, Joseph, because it’s got more adventure and comedy.”

Ten-year-old Rosie Moss is playing Belle. She said: “It’s really exciting. It’s probably the best thing I’ve done in my life so far.”

About 150 pupils are in the show, which is proving to be one of the school’s biggest yet.

Alicia Rumsby, 38, director of performing arts at the school, said: “The children are working to a very difficult score, and they have to count their own beats in for the music. They’ve been absolutely brilliant.”

The show is open to all. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets can be bought on the door.
