A PHARMACY was damaged after a wheelie bin was set on fire and pushed against its wall, setting fire to a gas mains.

The incident happened shortly before 11pm last Sunday in details released by Thames Valley Police today.

The force said a red wheelie bin at the back of Knights Pharmacy, Burchester Place was set alight and pushed against its wall.

It is treating the incident as arson and said: “This caused a gas mains to catch fire and damaged the rear of the shop.”

Officers want to speak to a man seen in the area. He is white, of medium build, 5ft8ins to 5ft9ins, in his late 20s with short dark hair and wearing a red polo t-shirt.

Investigating officer PC Dominic Watson said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who say anything suspicious in the area of Burchester Place, Middleton Road or Daventry Road in Banbury, between 10.45pm and 11pm on the day of the incident.

“I would be particularly keen to speak to a specific witness who alerted members of the public to the fire and who may have information which could help the investigation.”

He said: “There have been several arsons recently in the Grimsbury area and it is important that we find those responsible in order to prevent similar incidents in the area.”
