UNIVERSITY rugby players dropped by a Banbury care home ahead of the 133rd Varsity match next week.

Oxford University men’s rugby team headed to Agnes Court, in Warwick Road, to meet its disabled residents.

The home is run by Leonard Cheshire Disability, which has been chosen as the official charity for the match against Cambridge at Twickenham on Thursday.

Oxford University captain Jacob Taylor said: “It was great to chat to everyone at Agnes Court. It was a welcome treat as we are all exhausted from the training.

“We know that Oxford supporters are generous and we have set ourselves the challenge of raising more money for Leonard Cheshire Disability than Cambridge.”

Players, who were treated to tea, presented residents with a signed ball.

Rugby fan Stephen Argyle, 57, who lives at Agnes Court, said: “It was a pleasure to meet the Oxford University rugby team. I shall be eagerly anticipating their win.”

Back the Oxford team and support Leonard Cheshire Disability by texting Oxford to 70660 to donate £5.
