POLICE have got a 24-hour extension to keep two people arrested on suspicion of murder in custody.

Kyle Byfield died after suffering from puncture wounds at a flat in Jubilee Court, Banbury, on Wednesday ((15/4)).

Police said a woman, 26, and a man, 22 – both from Banbury – were arrested later that day.

Typically police can only hold people for 24 hours before charging them, releasing them on police bail or releasing them without any action taken.

For serious crimes, such as murder, officers can apply to a magistrates’ court for permission to keep suspects for another day.
