A 21-year-old man sustained a broken nose and fractured eye socket after he was assaulted in Banbury.

Officers said at about 2.20am on Saturday the victim was punched in the face and floored after leaving the Atic nightclub in Butchers Row.

Two men verbally abused the man as he walked past Greggs bakery towards the High Street.

Police said it was soon after the verbal abuse that the victim was punched.

He required hospital treatment at the Horton Hospital for a broken nose and fractured eye socket.

Police said the men were both white and in their late teens or early 20s.

Investigating officer, Det Con Richard Lewis from Patrol Team based at Banbury police station said “This appears to be an isolated incident and we are appealing for any information."
