A man has been arrested today in connection with a rape in a park in Banbury.

Thames Valley Police said the 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of rape and is now in custody.

The arrest has been made in connection with an incident that happened at about 3.45am, when a woman in her late teens was raped in Princess Diana Park.

Detectives are working to establish the circumstances and officers have been conducting patrols in the area.

Det Con Darren Pomroy, of Force CID based at Banbury police station, said: "I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Princess Diana Park and who saw anyone acting suspiciously."
