A man has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for sexual offences in Banbury.
Thames Valley Police said Neville Feasey, 76, of Yule Court, Banbury, was found unanimously guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault at Oxford Crown Court on September 15, following a five-day trial.
Yesterday at the same court he was sentenced to seven years’ in jail.
He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period.
The offences, which relate to one victim, a girl, were carried out between 1966 and 1979 in Banbury.
Feasey was also found not guilty of six counts of rape.
He was arrested on March 2 last year and charged on September 30 last year 2014.
Investigating officer, Det Con Rebecca McLeod, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit based at Banbury police station, said: “I am pleased with the sentence handed down to Feasey, who will now face a substantial amount of time in jail for his offences.
“The victim has shown considerable bravery in coming forward and I now hope that she feels that some sort of justice has been served with Feasey’s conviction and sentence."
