A WOMAN has been arrested after a wallet was stolen during a distraction burglary in Banbury.

Police said the offence took place at about 7pm on Saturday, October 31 but did not release any details about it until today.

Officers said a woman knocked on the door of a house in Leonard's Close and asked to use the toilet.

She then took the wallet whilst she was inside.

She is described as in her mid to late 20s, white, about 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build with short blonde hair.

A 27-year-old woman brom Banbury was arrested on October 31 on suspcision of burglary and was released on bail until November 30.

Det Con Darren Pomroy said: “We are keen to speak to a lady who handed in the stolen identification cards from the offence to Banbury police station at approximately 1.40pm on Sunday 1 November.

"We would like to speak to this lady in relation the recovery of this property.

“Remember if someone uninvited comes to your door check their ID is genuine before letting them into your property and if you do not feel comfortable inviting them into your home you are able to refuse them entry.”
