A fire which destroyed four garages in Banbury is being treated as arson, police have said.

Firefighters were called to Evenlode just after midnight on Thursday, where seven single-storey garages were on fire.

A car was also destroyed.

Fire and Rescue Service said the crew spent nearly two and a half hours putting out the fire.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer confirmed officers were called at about 12.40am.

She said there were no people there apart from the emergency services, and an investigation into what caused the fire had begun.

She added: "If anyone has any information about the incident can they call us on the normal 101 number."
