A brain injury that caused the death of a Banbury man in August 2014 may have been caused by a violent assault a month before.
Martins Rudzitis, of Harlech Close, was found dead in his rented bedroom by his landlord on August 3 2014.
Oxfordshire Coroners Court today heard how Mr Rudzitis, 43 had been punched and kicked by two men in People's Park on July 17.
But consultant forensic pathologist Dr Nicholas Hunt told the court that the shop assistant had been an alcoholic, and this had left his brain more vulnerable to injury.
He added he could not be sure whether the assault had led directly to his death.
Corner Darren Salter delivered a narrative verdict.
