A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in an alleyway in Banbury town centre.

The victim was approached by a man at about 3.30pm on Monday as she was walking by Debenhams.

The man engaged her conversation and the pair walked together through the alleyway between Bridge Street and Christchurch Street.

While in the alleyway the victim was sexually assaulted by the offender.

Both the victim and man then walked out of alleyway towards the bus station.

The man has been described as white, around 20 years old, slim to medium build, 5ft 8ins tall with short black hair.

He was wearing a light grey jumper, light grey baggy bottoms and a snapback cap with a red peak.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Mike West, of Force CID, said: “I am appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man fitting the description or anyone acting suspiciously in the Banbury area around the time of the offences to come forward as soon as possible.
