A police officer has been cleared to return to work after allegations that he altered an interview record in relation to a road traffic collision.

PC Neil Budd, who is based at Banbury police station, was cleared of breaching the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity.

It follows a misconduct hearing yesterday.

The allegation related to the alteration of a handwritten record of an interview, conducted with a man in relation to a collision.

A misconduct hearing took place at Thames Valley Police Headquarters between 16 and 17 August.

The hearing was in public and presided over by an independent, legally qualified chair assisted by an Assistant Chief Constable and a lay member.

The panel concluded that the case was not proven and PC Budd will now return to full duty.
