A thief stole an 80-year-old woman's handbag from her shoulder as she walked towards Morrisons in Banbury.
Police said the victim was on a footpath near the supermarket at 11.40am on Tuesday, October 18 when she was targeted.
The force did not release information about the offence until today.
The pensioner was approached from behind by a man who snatched her bag and ran off towards the footbridge over Upper Windsor Street.
The woman did not suffer any injuries.
Police said they are linking the theft to a series of similar incidents in the area.
