BOTH Marks & Spencer branches in Banbury are among those thought to be at risk of closure.

The retailer announced it planned to close 30 of its large stores earlier this month, with another 45 set to be downsized or replaced by Simply Food outlets.

And experts at the Local Data Company have now compiled a list of at-risk outlets, including those in Banbury's Castle Quay Shopping Centre and the Banbury Gateway Shopping Park.

The list is not one officially produced by M&S, which has not revealed stores that may close.

But Local Data Company director Matthew Hopkinson told The Daily Mail: "There are 35 towns and cities that have more than two M&S stores either on the high street, in a shopping centre or on the edge of town in a retail park.

"If one removes the large urban centres such as London, Glasgow and other cities, there are 22 towns where one might question the need for two stores."
