A HORSE who lived up to her name after getting stuck in mud is reportedly doing well after her rescue ordeal.

Retired racehorse Tight Squeeze is said to be back in high spirits after being rescued from a sticky situation by firefighters.

She slid into a ditch in South Newington near Banbury on Saturday morning and became cemented in mud, but was eventually hoisted out by Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.

Her owner Chuck Harrison told the Racing Post: "We had about 15 people here helping to get her out, with the animal rescue team joined by local firefighters - they were absolutely brilliant.

"It must have taken a good hour and a half, as they had to dig the bank out and she had a little thrash around every now and again, but she's ever such a tough old bird and she's already got over it.

"When I turned her out for a couple of hours in the sunshine on Monday she was jumping and kicking as if nothing had happened."

He told the paper that he has fenced off the ditch - situated in a field near Wigginton Road - to avoid another horse sliding to the same fate.
