A DRIVER was freed from a car after a head-on crash with a pick-up lorry on a country road.

The roof of the vehicle had to be cut off by fire crews who were called to the scene in North Oxfordshire.

It happened on Friday morning between Swalcliffe and Sibford Ferris near Banbury.

Although the cause of the crash has not yet been established Banbury Fire Station manager Steve Anderson said it happened in 'frosty conditions'.

He said: "I would like to remind road users of the demands of driving on untreated rural roads. Please take care when driving ensuring you take into account the time of day, weather and the condition of the road."

The driver was taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
