TRAFFIC has cleared on the M40 after a 'medical emergency' sparked lane closures in Banbury.

Southbound lanes were shut between junction 11 for Banbury and junction 10 for Cherwell Valley Services.

The Oxford Mail's traffic feed reported a 'medical emergency' on the motorway but details are not yet known.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Michelle Archer said no callouts had been logged for the southbound road, but paramedics did deal with a lorry and car crash on the other side of the carriageway at 11.23am.

It appears to have been a separate incident from a pile-up that struck the southbound road earlier today.
