TWO people were trapped in their car after it veered off a road and crashed into a row of trees.

Firefighters rescued two elderly people from the vehicle after it became stuck down a grass verge near the Spiceball Leisure Centre in Banbury yesterday.

Officers were called to the scene in Concord Avenue at 5.27pm and needed to cut branches from around the car before the occupants could be freed.

Both people in the car were unharmed.

Road Safety Manager Mick Clarke, who attended the incident said: "At this time it is not apparent why the accident happened but fortunately no one was injured and all three services worked quickly to ensure the safety of those involved.

"Both occupants were taken to the Horton Hospital for a full medical assessment."
