AN ADDICT caught-out after trying to ‘mislead’ a judge into believing she was drug-free has had her sentencing put off.

Victoria Woodcock told a probation officer tests proved she had steered clear of illegal substances ahead of her hearing at Oxford Crown Court.

But when her GP was quizzed, it was revealed the 35-year-old had tested positive for cocaine on at least two occasions.

Sitting at the court on Wednesday, Judge Peter Ross decided to hand Woodcock a lifeline, deferring her sentence for three months to give her time to rid herself of the addiction.

He said: “I never take kindly to being misled. What I have to do is try to put to one side my anger to that.”

Woodcock, of Portway, Aynho, near Banbury, admitted burglary on December 7 last year and possessing a knife or bladed article in Marlborough Road, Banbury, on January 26.

She came before the court for sentence on Wednesday, when defence barrister Ronan McCann claimed she had revealed to him she had not dabbled in class A drugs since being released on bail in March.

Despite her GP confirming her drug tests were positive, the barrister went on to say Woodcock was continuing to slam claims she was abusing cocaine.

She now faces up to two years behind bars unless she passes twice-weekly drug tests.

Prosecutor Kim Preston told the court Woodcock was at Horse Fair’s Whately Hall Hotel, sitting behind a man, pinching his room key from his jacket.

Van keys were snatched from the man’s room, before Woodcock made her get away in the vehicle, the prosecutor said.

Woodcock, who has a ‘longstanding’ drug addiction, was caught with an 18cm kitchen knife when she was arrested for failing to appear at court.

She was released on bail and is due to appear before the court for sentence on July 18.
