AN MP helped save a woman who was left seriously injured after being trampled by a herd of cows.
Banbury MP Victoria Prentis, who joined others in helping the woman, described the incident on Saturday morning as 'frightening' and 'upsetting'.
The identity of the woman remains unknown, but it is understood she was taken to hospital with severe injuries.
Mrs Prentis was heading back to Somerton from Deddington Market and entered the village at around 9.40am.
She saw, from her car, a commotion next to a canalside towpath by the side of the road.
A group of men had gathered around a herd of cattle and were waving their hi-vis jackets at the animals.
Mrs Prentis, who lives in the village, stopped her car and got out. It was then she realised that a woman was underneath the cows and the men were trying to help her.
She said: "My dad was a farmer so I'm very relaxed around cows but this was unusual and a very frightening situation.
“It was a horrible and upsetting incident and I’m very sorry for the woman who was injured.”
The men first left the scene and eventually they were able to get the woman out from under the cows.
An ambulance was called and took the woman away, who was left with significant injuries.
Mrs Prentis continued: "It was a nasty incident and I'm glad that I could do something to help.
