Robbery claim was fiction
10:20am Monday 30th April 2012 in Banbury
An alcoholic who reported being robbed before realising no such crime had taken place has been sentenced for wasting police time.
Julian Fannon admitted the charge at Oxford Crown Court on Friday.
He reported that his wallet and watch were stolen on December 14 but failed to tell police when he realised he had not been the victim of a crime. The 33-year-old, of Jubilee Court, Banbury, was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Why is his particular problem with alcohol important? It's not illegal to be an alcoholic is it?
