Residents make clean sweep

MORE than 600 bags of rubbish were collected by Cherwell residents in a community clean-up of the district.

Cherwell District Council said this year’s spring clean event from March 30 to May 14 was the biggest ever.

Almost 50 organisations, including schools and parish councils, were loaned 180 high-visibility jackets, 707 pairs of gloves and 212 litter pickers.

Almost four tonnes of waste were collected.
