PLANS for a new multi-million-pound business site on the edge of a Bicester housing estate have been re-submitted to Cherwell District Council.

A planning application for the 50-acre site called Network Bicester, which would create more than 1,200 jobs, was initially submitted in 2012, but latter withdrawn.

The original plans caused concern among residents on the nearby Greenwood Estate over noise pollution, increased traffic, visual impact, and the scale of the buildings.

The issue was to go before Cherwell District Council planning committee in May last year until developer Albion Land withdrew its application at the 11th hour.

The proposals are now back on the table after the developer submitted an outline planning application for the business park last week.

Network Bicester would be situated on land off Howes Lane and Middleton Stoney Road and would provide space for major employers in manufacturing, distribution and research and development.

The outline plans, submitted by developer Albion Land, include 53,000sq m of floor space for offices and also storage and distribution facilities.

There will be a consultation period of 13 weeks with a decision expected in the New Year. If the outline application is agreed in principle the developers will put forward a detailed application for further consultation.
