RESIDENTS fighting a “noisy” movie-making operation in Upper Heyford have said they are sure the company, which withdrew a bid to expand the operation, will be back.

Dorchester Group, which is building 763 homes at Heyford Park near Bicester, has been letting film production companies use the site for up to 28 days a year.

The company applied to Cherwell District Council for permission to increase that to 125 days, but withdrew the bid on Thursday morning, hours before it was due to be decided.

Alison Smith, 51, of Troy Farm Cottages, Ardley Road, said: “I am happy in the short term, but I’m sure they will be back.

“They have got a huge amount of land and they have to make money.”

Mrs Smith said the late-night noise of explosions from the site was “beyond just annoying”. The former RAF and US Air Force base at Upper Heyford has been used for productions such as Brad Pitt zombie movie World War Z.

Somerton farmer Andy Corner, 49, said: “At the end of the day they can still film the 28 days they could before. I am just trying to get across that we do live here and a lot of people wouldn’t want it on their doorstep.”

Dorchester Group did not comment.
