A MUM who went on a shoplifting spree with three other women has been jailed for three months.

Duvets, children’s clothes and kettles were among items taken from three shops by 21-year-old Charlotte Connors and her accomplices, a court heard.

Connors, who pleaded guilty, was already serving a suspended sentence for a proceeds of crime offence.

Jonathan Sank, prosecuting, told Oxford Crown Court on Thursday Connors was involved in four thefts on the same day.

The first was at One Village Outlet Store, in Woodstock, at 2pm on September 6 last year where a staff member saw four women trying to conceal items. Duvets valued at £642 were later found in their car.

Shortly afterwards, the court heard, three women ran out of a Tesco store in Bicester carrying shopping baskets while another woman tried to distract staff. Items worth £130 were later recovered.

The group then travelled to Perspective gift shop, in Woodstock, where at 3.30pm customers reported seeing them stealing goods.

The women went to their car, where items including children’s clothes, pyjamas and Wellington boots worth a total of £235 were later found.

Half an hour later customers reported seeing women stealing electronic goods in Lakeland, in Witney. Police stopped the women in their car and £175-worth of items from the store were found.

The court heard Connors had been given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years in October 2013 for proceeds of crime offences, after she tried to hide £16,500 cash during a police search of her house.

Judge Patrick Eccles said: “There is a public interest that where suspended sentences are made, they are implemented. ”

He jailed Connors, of Barncroft Close, Hillingdon, Uxbridge, for four weeks for each of the four offences, to run concurrently, plus eight weeks for breaching her suspended sentence, to run consecutively.
