A man who fought with the Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry on D-Day has passed away.
Lance Sergeant Ray “Titch” Rayner, died on April 2, aged 95.
Mr Rayner, who lived in Bicester before moving to Aylesbury, was a member of D Company, 2nd Battalion Ox and Bucks, and took part in the airborne Pegasus Bridge operation on June 6, 1944.
His glider ended up eight miles from the it’s destination and was then shot by a German.
His comrades dragged him to Pegasus Bridge before he was treated for his wounds.
