A FOOD blogger from Bicester goes into tonight's MasterChef semi-final on the back of a salmon ravioli hailed incredible by the judges.

Sarah McCready successfully lined the stomachs of more than 90 pilots and crew from the Red Arrows for their 50th anniversary celebration lunch in Lincolnshire.

The 24-year-old, who was one of eight contestants split into teams of two, served up a salmon ravioli with samphire, clams, bacon and asparagus with a white wine sauce.

For dessert the community project leader at Dorchester Living cooked a plum, stem ginger, star anise tarte tatin with crème Anglaise.

Stunned judge Greg Wallace, when referring to Miss McCready’s dish, said: “This is incredible.

“I have been in restaurants where the dishes didn’t look as good as this let alone coming in to airfield.”

Squadron leader Ruth Shackleton, of The Red Arrows, added: “It was extremely delicious and I really enjoyed it.”

Prior to the judges decision Miss McCready, a Heyford Park magazine writer, said the task of cooking for more than 90 people had rendered her team exhausted.

The granddaughter of a half Polish and Italian grandmother added: “It was really tough and we are all shattered because it was full on.”

The next round is tonight at 8pm on BBC1.
